stoat trapping results 23/3/07
The traps were checked on friday, 9 stoats and 7 rats. With most rats at the town end of the pass. We even saw two mice feeding on the side of the road which may indicate a seeding year for the beech trees which is always a bad sign as the increase in mice and rat numbers and therefore increase of stoat numbers.Saturday, 17 March 2007

Geckos and Skinks in Otago and Fiordland
I have talked to Rod Morris of Dunedin and he is happy to give a public talk about the search for rare and new species of geckos and skinks in Otago and Fiordland.
So I propose we hold an evening talk, with slides, in the St John’s rooms on Friday 16th March (gold coin donation), starting at 7.30pm
And have a field trip the next morning (17th March) to view skinks locally. We will need to be out early to see the wee creatures.
It is not yet finalised where we are going to view the skinks, but will pass on the info as soon as it comes to hand. It will be in the local Upper Clutha area, so not too much travelling.
Any further enquiries please contact Andrew Penniket 03 443 1211 or the Branch secretary.

Update on Tenure Review
At present our branch is preparing early reports on two leases in our area. Apart from that the Tenure Review process has slowed down considerably. This is due to many reasons as anyone reading the newspapers, or is listening to the other media, will fully understand. READ MORE >>
